    U.S. Gas & Electric acquires Energy Services Providers, Inc. (ESPI), and begins supplying electricity to customers within New York State.
  • June - New Jersey Gas & Electric ("NJG&E") begins supplying natural gas to customers in the New Jersey Natural Gas service area.
